Figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show the CV market was worth 25,089 units through July, up 10.3% on last year The LCV market Game to 20,718 units, up 151% compared to last year Year-to-date ICY sales have risen to 152,683 units, up 5.4% on last year.
Renault continues to do well with its Trafic and Master models, selling 789 units in July to take total van sales for 2002 to 11,201—up 221% on last year. Also up in the WV sector are Vauxhall and Citroen.
The truck sector continued to underperform with just 4,371 units sold in July, although SMMT attributes the decline to the 74-7.5 tonne sector. This year the sector has said 29,143 units, down 5.5% Only Mercedes, Neu), and Oaf Trucks can report better figures than this time last year.
MAN and ERF together have sold 3,256 trucks so far in 2002, down 1,758 units. Volvo is 881 units off its 2001 place with 3,073 units sold, and Renault Trucks is down by almost half against last year's performance to 1;124 units.
