Your article headed "Tech/rig lines up tyres for longer life" (CM July 25) quoted Mr G. Men, of Truck-Align Ltd, as saying that "both Silver Roadways Ltd and the London Brick Company had put large sections of their fleets through the axle alignment process."

The facts, as far as LBC is concerned, are as follows. We have submitted three (3-w rigid) vehicles to Truck-Align for steering geometry checks, of which two have had the front-axle camber reset to. the figures quoted. This was purel: an experimental exercise to check the claims made by Truck-Align, and since the woi was carried out during the week ending July 20 it is obviously too early to reach any firm conclusions as to the effect on tyre wear and handling generally.

C. H. PRICE, Transport Engineer, London Brick Company.
