• Newcastle upon Tyne Corporation is to spend nearly £10,000 on the purchase of five ambulances. The Minories Garages Ltd., Newcastle, will supply two ambulances. Charles G. S. Buist Ltd., Newcastle, is to supply the chassis, and Wadhams (Coachbuilders) Ltd., the bodies, for three other vehicles.
Teesside County Borough has placed con
tracts for the supply of nine replacement ambulances to cost about £18,000. The vehicles will be supplier: by Martins (Trucks) Ltd.. Stockton, Nesham of Teesside Ltd,, Middlesbrough, and Herbert Lomas Ltd., Wilmslow, Cheshire. The Corporation health committee, recommending the purchases, said preference had been given to tenders from local firms for supplying chassis.
