• Talks are to be held shortly between representatives of Hull Corporation Transport and East Yorkshire Motor Services Ltd. aimed at changing the co-ordination agreement established between the two undertakings 35 years ago. It is hoped that any new deal in this direction would bring additional revenue of many thousands of pounds to the corporation, which estimates that by the end of the year the transport department will have a deficit of £327,000.

alr. Walter Hargreaves, chairman of , Hull's transport committee, stated that the agreement, signed in 1934, had worked to the satisfaction of both parties up to recent years. Under the agreement, the city was split into two areas, area A extending up to the old tram termini and area B covering the suburbs outside area A and on the outskirts of the city. All revenue from area A went to , the corporation, with revenue from area B split between the corporation and East Yorkshire.

The total mileage in area B was also divided between the two operators. Large housing estates built on the outskirts of the city as part of the slum clearance policy have led to an increased revenue to the company, with a corresponding drain on the corporation's takings. Cllr. Hargreaves said: "We are losing money in the B area and so we are seeking a revision of the agreement."
