• An increase in turnover, elimination of the trading loss from which the group has suffered in recent years, and an order book standing at £850,000 were announced to shareholders of the Steel Barrel Scammells and Associated Engineers Ltd. at the a.g.m. recently. The consolidated revenue deficit of SBS at the end of last year stood at £179,000.
Among current orders is one worth over £155,000 from BLMC for the fitting of 300 special steel and timber truck bodies to Leyland Hippo chassis and drawbar trailers. A new tipping semi-trailer with single-ram gear and alloy body, capable of operating as part of 38-ton-g.t.w. outfit when regulations permit, has drawn orders valued at £60,000.
