• The Hull area Yorkshire Electricity Board have recently introduced a new delivery system for household electrical goods Working with a fleet of specially designed miniarticulated vehicles, the board have achieved an appreciable increase in deliveries in the Hull area.

The 20ft mini-artics, built by Scottish Aviation, are pulled by Bedford 15cwt. tractive units. They have been purpose-designed, very low and with rear and side openings for maximum ease of loading and unloading—an essential factor when no mechanical handling aids are .available, as at private houses. A Pakord Load-Lok cargo control system has also been incorporated.

On average. 12 deliveries are made per day in one round trip, eliminating the need for timewasting journeys to and from the main depot. The vehicles carry a crew of two—a driver and an electrician—for on-the-spot installation of new equipment

Two-tube tunnel

• The Minister of Transport has given the "go ahead" to the estimated Ulm. scheme to duplicate the Liverpool-Wallasey Tunnel. Work on the first tube of the tunnel started early in 1966 and, together with the approach works designed for both tubes, is expected to be completed early in 1971.
