Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

QPECIALLY developed for the new I," Guy Invincible range, described on pages 78-81, but adaptable for other applications, a heating and demisting unit produced by Smiths Motor Accessories, Ltd., 50 Oxgate Lane, London, N.W.2, is known as the F 465. It has a heat output equivalent to over 4/ kilowatts, but is compact.

In the Invincible cab it is attached to the inner wall of the double-skinned plastics front bulkhead on the driver's side. Two separate radiators are used in the heater, one warming fresh air drawn from a duct behind the vehicle radiator and the other 'heating recirculated air. A single multi-blade fan is sandwiched between them and feeds Warmed air into a cross-duct formed in the double-skinned cab front.

Four demisting ducts and two outlets in the cab footwells distribute the heated air throughout the cab. An on-off switch controls the fan and a lever-operated water-metering valve provides temperatures from cold to maximum heat. Thus cold air can be used to demist the windscreen and ventilate the cab in warm weather.

Fitted with a 24v. motor, the complete unit measures 161 in. by 8 in: by 6 in deep.

Spray-painting Mash WHEREAS most face masks for spray painters are designed solely to filter the surrounding air, a mask now produced by the Flow-rite Co., Walling7 ton, Surrey, takes a supply of clean air from the line to the spray gun. Known as the Breath-rite spray mask and made of polythene, it is light in weight, cool to wear, and costs £1 19s. 6d.

Dual-Pivot Loader SUITABLE for fitting to the four standard pick-up points of their 900 industrial tractor, a dual-pivot loader capable of overhead and front-end loading is now being manufactured by David Brown Construction Equipment, Ltd., Feltham, Middx.

The loader has a 1-cu.-yd. dirt bucket c28 as standard equipment, but a 4-cu.-yd. light-material bucket or dozer ,blade are optionally available.

Bucket roll-back and automatic level carrying positions at all heights are features of the loader, which is capable of discharging at the rear in 14 seconds and at the front in six seconds. Maximum break-out power is 2,500 lb. at the bucket tip and a load of 1,250 lb. may be lifted to a height Of 9 ft.

Waterproof Marking cLEAR writing on plastics, china, glass, metal or any glazed surface is possible with a new black lead pencil marketed by Gordon and Gotch. Ltd., 75-79 Farringdon Street, London, E.C.4. Useful to hauliers for identifying goods

carried, the pencil, called the Swan Alfstabilo, is waterproof and marks may be removed from paper with a pencil eraser and from other surfaces with a damp cloth.

Brake-facing Developments RESEARCH into contact pressure between drums and brake shoe under adverse conditions by Telamite Ltd., at their laboratories at Bentham, near Lancaster, has resulted in the pro. duction of a number of new facing materials.

One of these is a woven zinc-reinforced type called Telamite K3Z, which is stated to possess attributes not found in facingE processed by orthodox methods. It claimed to have good fade resistance at elevated temperatures. and is particular!) suitable for applications where rapid expansion and contraction produce km areas of contact and corresponding!) high contact pressures.
