Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW lorry park for longdistance drivers could be located in the near future on the outskirts of Falkirk.

A Central Regional roads sub-committee gave its roads director, Forbes Keith, approval to go ahead with plans to site the lorry park on ground near an unwanted slaughterhouse on the GrangemouthFalkirk road.

The slaughterhouse is due to close in three months.

Mr Keith said: "If we want to attract industry we must assume there will be more trade and with that more lorries. We must provide this accommodation for long-distance drivers."

The lorry park should not be used by local company vehicles.

In the first stage of development there will be 35 spaces. A second stage would give an additional 15 spaces and would involve the purchase of land from British Rail.

An initial scheme using the Bell's Meadow in Falkirk was not suitable because there was no proper access.

Councillor Jim Anderson warned that any decision might be "hasty" because of possible alternative plans for the slaughterhouse.

But a Falkirk District spokesman said that his authority considered the lorry park scheme satisfactory.
