Tool for Dry Jointing
JOINS in metal or plastics pipes and electrical cables without soldering, welding or brazing can be made with the Kempee jointing machine offered by Jacobson Van Der Berg and Co. (U.K.), Ltd., 3-5 Crutched Friars, London, E.C.3.
Pipe ends to be joined are inserted into a thin metal sleeve. The assembly is then placed in the Kempee tool, which, by means of adjustable rollers, forms deep grooves around the sleeve, forcing it tightly on to the pipe it surrounds.
A similar procedure is used, for joints but a hard polythene sleeve is substituted for 'the metal one. Joints made in piping by the tool are stated to have.withstood internal preSsures up to 12,000 p.s.i. The device can be used also to join plastics tubing.
A tool to accommodate tubes with outside diameters from f in.-3 in. is known as the Standard and costs 116 16s. whilst the Junior model is priced at fl 1 10s. and can be used with tubing having in.Li in. external diameters.
Delicate Control
T"Type 600 spray gun, which has been added to the range of guns manufactured by Alfred Bullows and Sons, Ltd., Long Street, Walsall, incorporates an air-pressure control. This provides fine adjustment for delicate shading and similar work.
A reduction in weight is achieved by the use of high-tensile duralumin in design, The gun is fed -by gravity from a top mounted reservoir which is available in
and lf-pint sizes.
Nylon Hose
FLEXIBILITY is one of the advantages of the high-pressure nylon hose now being produced by Tecalemit. Ltd., Plymouth, Devon. It is available in four sizes of f in., in., f in. and f in. with minimum bend radii of 11 in., 3 in., 4 in. and 5 in respectively.
The hose consists of an inner nylon tube braided with synthetic cord which is in turn, encased in a flexible nylon outer sheath. It has a smaller outer diameter than comparable nonmetallic flexible tubing and burst pressures ranging from 74000-11,000 p.s.i. according to bore size. Detachable end fittings are supplied with the hose which is suitable for hydraulic or pneumatic applications.
Modified Plugs THEMITE range of K.L.G. sparking plugs now being made to a one-piece design incorporating a new insulator material. These plugs replace the previous detachable types and are offered at the same price of 5s. Certain detachable models are still to be available for
two-stroke engines. They are manufactured by Smiths Motor Accessory Division, K.L.G. Sales Department, 50 Oxgate Lane, London, N.W.2.
No Lubrication UBROOK (sintered bronze) and Ferrocite (sintered-iron) bearings manufactured by Bound Brook Bearings, Ltd., Trent Valley Trading Estate, Lichfield, Staffs, are described in detail in a booklet entitled "Oil Retaining Bearings" issued by them. The sintered bearing materials are porous arid are pre-charged with lubricant to provide automatic oiling over long periods without attention.
