Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

EXCELLENT relations existed in Scotland between local authorities and the Traders' Road Transport Association, who were invariably consulted when it was proposed to introduce traffic rules.

This is stated in the annual report of the Scottish Division of the Association, to be presented to the annual general meeting in Glasgow on April 25.

Other points from the report are that although a Lorry Driver of the Year Competition will not be held in 'Scotland this year, there may be a contest in 1961, and that the G.P.O. had been invited to join the maintenance advisory committee.

The Association's Inverness and Aberdeen areas_ would shortly be amalgamated.

Addressing members of the Northern Division at the annual general meeting on Wednesday, Mr. H. R. Featherstone, national secretary, replied to a charge by 'Newcastle upon Tyne Corporation that the Association's "Kerb Space Is Precious" campaign had failed. Because of the very nature Of the traffic problem, said Mr. Featherstone, it would be unrealistic to look for spectacular results.

• It was surprising that the corporation intended to proceed with orders to restrict loading and unloading in central streets because the campaign had not succeeded, in their estimation.

Mr. E. A. Betteley was re-elected. chairman of the T.R.T.A. West Midland Division on Monday. The vice-chairmen are now Mr. J. Delicate, Mr. J. A. Edmonds and Mr. K. H. Widdowson.
