1-3. A HARD blow at lorry-robbing gangs

was delivered by Scotland Yard's Flying Squad on Tuesday night. Detectives raided a piggery at Hornsey and reccivered two loads of television sets, two cars and three lorries—property valued at a total of £20,000.

They found indications that the " warehouse" had been connected with Scores of thefts, :for a barn on the site had its inside walls lined with aluminum panels cut from stolen lorries.

One large lorry found in the yard had been resprayed, and attempts had been made to remove the engine number. Detectives also found oxy-acetylene equipment.

Quantities of foodstuffs were also found—an indication that loads of different types had passed through the robbers' "depot 7—but the thieves were not at the piggery when the police called. On Wednesday morning, however, two men were questioned.

TRANSPORT (BRISTOL) TAKEOVER A CONTROLLING interest in Transinport (Bristol), Ltd., has been acquired from Mutual Meat Traders, Ltd.. by Mr. P. I. Wise. Transport (Bristol) own W. H. Wicks, Ltd., London, and have a controlling interest in Slaughter's Deep Freeze Transport, Ltd., London and Grantown-on-Spey. Mr. J. Reid, general manager of the three associated companies, has been made a director of Wicks. Slaughter's plan to open a second depot in Scotland shortly.
