QTATEMENTS were made in the N--/ House of Commons last week about delays to. road haulage vehicles at the docks. Mr. Collins said that " it is not uncommon for lorry drivers to spend a whole day at London Docks, either discharging or collecting loads, and very often doing neither."

He asked Mr. J. A, Boyd-Carpenter, Minister of Transport, to take action, with the port authorities, to alleviate the delays.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter replied that it was primarily a matter for the port authorities, who, he was sure, were "fully aware of the importance of this matter in developing their facilities." Ltd., have been made to the local Member of Parliament by Mr. R. B. Brittain. a director of the company. The matter is also to be taken up with the Eastern Licensing Authority by the local branch of the Road Haulage Association.

DISPOSAL BOARD CONTINUE THE chairman and members of the Road Haulage Disposal Board, whose term of office expires next month, have been asked to serve for a further year.

"The Board has done a very good job," Mr. J. A. Boyd-Carpenter, Minister of Transport, said last week.

HIGHER M.M.B. RATES?

A FIRM of accountants has been PA engaged by the Mioistry of Agriculture and Food, The Commercial Molar understands, to examine the claim for higher rates by contractors to the Milk Marketing Board. Figures of operating costs for maximum-load eight-wheelers are being studied, and the accountants' recommendations may be made soon.
