Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Eastern Scottish has bezome the latest Scottish Bus Group company to use former London Routemaster doubleJeckers. It has borrowed two iorn fellow SBG company Zlydeside for use on routes in Edinburgh, in competition with Lothian Region Transport.

The buses have spent a Neel< on the 23 service, com)eting directly with Lothian services, and a few days on Eastern's post-deregulation C3 Ind CS services.

Eastem's operations manager Mike Mitchell says that the opportunity to try the Routemasters followed Clydeside's decision to replace the vehicles by the end of the year. "They are excellent buses for these busy city routes," he says, "and our passengers seem delighted to have conductors on our services again."

Mitchell praised the manoeuvrability of the buses in Edinburgh's chronic traffic congestion, and confirmed that Eastern was looking seriously at the possibility of obtaining a number of Routemasters to use on service in Edinburgh.

Other SBG companies still using Routemasters are Kelvin Central, on Glasgow local services, and Strathtay.
