Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DAF AND DODGE are examining the possibilities of technical and manufacturing co-operation.

Both companies agree that the main objective of the study is to consider various forms of co-operation ranging from an exchange of certain components to the future development of common components using both parties' resources.

The "co-operation" plans would not appear to be as farreaching as, say, the MAN and Volkswagen agreement and it is unlikely that they could be, as the respective ranges of the two companies are in direct competition over much of the weight range.

But an interchange of component knowledge is a different matter and the "first evaluation of the existing facilities and products has led to the tentative conclusion that co-operation in some form could result in a greater scale of operations for both parties in the field of component manufacturing" — according to the official DAF statement.
