The Road Haulage Association has named the man to fill its newly-created post of head of communications.

He is John Ockenden, a transport economist and public affairs consultant. Mr Ockenden has previously worked for the British Road Federation and the RAC and is seen as part of the RHA's drive to improve its public relations.

Trailer rental company Transport International Pool has made several new appointments to its marketing and technical development teams. Jeremy Marshall joins TIP from International Marketing and Economic Services as market research and development manager (Europe).

New marketing analyst is Geoff Taylor, who is responsible for the interpretation of marketing statistics. Mr Taylor was previously an operations manager with TIP.

Malcolm Brown has moved to become chief engineer (UK), responsible for purchasing of trailers, stock control and technical liaision between TIP's 17 UK branches. Before joining the company Mr Brown spent some time with trailer manufacturer Crane Fruehauf.

Matt Bruce has joined specialist cross-country vehicle manufacturer Stonefield Vehicles as service manager. In his new position with Stonegate in Cumnock, Ayrshire Mr Bruce will be responsible for organising and expanding the service department and parts back-up.

Vehicle bodybuilder Bonallack has a new sales representative for the north of England. He is Bob Morley, who previously sold Cargovan kits in the Midlands and the East of England. In his new position Mr Morley will be selling the refrigerated and dry freight trailers made by Bonallack, which is a division of Alcan Transport Products.
