Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FORD'S new A-series range has already provided fertile ground for body designers; at both Bramcote and Boreham preannouncement events to show the A models to operators and the Press, a wide variety of special bodywork was seen alongside factory-mounted bodies.

The A-series lends itself particularly well to the scaling-up of bodies already proven on the Transit and similar lightweights, and to the scaling down of others familiar on the D-series sizes of truck. Several Ford-approved body makers have adopted these techniques, but there are also some outright new designs for the A-series to be seen.

The long-wheelbase A-series in particular enables one to mount a body only about 100 cu ft less in volume than a typical Dseries van, yet it is so much lighter that it can have many extra fittings — such as a tail-lift — and still be under 3 tons unladen.

Examples of some of the early arrivals among bodies built for the Ford A-series are illustrated here.
