Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

George Alexander from Glass's Guide reveals what sells panel vans: modern styling; bags of cargo space; and common-rail injection.

Success in the used panel van market centres on restyled products, plenty of cube and common-rail engine technology. That's the opinion of Glass's Guide commercial vehicle chief editor George Alexander, who highlights the revamped Seve I range of DucatĀ°, Boxer and Relay 3.5-tonners because they offer "modern reliability but on a lower budget".

Renault's Master is also performing strongly where larger, high-powered panel vans with low warranted miles are concerned. The Iveco Daily is doing well with its combination of power and size, while dealers are rejecting smaller or older panel vans from the Italian manufacturers.

Ford's Jumbo Transit is in demand although the smaller models suffer a mixed reaction.Alexander says that some front-wheel-drives on sale in the South are "quickly snapped up at prices close to Guide Trade, while others of a similar condition achieve less in the North".

The Beastie Boys' favourite marque, Volkswagen, is performing better: the newer higher-powered TDI models are getting good prices.

Vauxhall's Movano has improved on the used van market following what Alexander describes as long periods when even clean examples experienced a poor reception". Its resurgence is in part down to lower numbers on the marketplace and the success of the smaller Vivaro. 10 Across the board Alexander reckons it's the chassis-cabs that are really selling well. Lutons, boxes, dropsiders and well-presented tippers are all performing strongly in auction.
