U.T.A. BUSES FOR INDIA

Pl.A BELFAST company, John Eastwood and Sons, Ltd., who recently • .appired 150 .obsolete .buses from the Ulster Transport Authority, are to sell about 12 to India. The company hope to obtain orders for another 60 from other overseas countries. Built in 193637. many of the buses had " years of useful life in them yet," said a spokesman for the company. .

£500,000 N.Z. LOSSES

URBAN transport services in New Zealand lost £500000 last year. The number of passengers carried was 4m. fewer than in the previous 12 months. Although higher fares were responsible for an increase in revenue of 1200,000, there was an advance in costs.

During the past year, tram services in Christchurch and New Plymouth were converted to motorbuses and trolleybuses.
