Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Yorkshire.

SEVERAL well-known operators, such as the Yorkshire Traction Co., Ltd., and Hebble Motor Services, Ltd., will apply for licences at the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners' sitting at Sheffield: on October 25. An interesting feature is that the London, Midland and Scottish and London and North-Eastern Railway Companies will apply for per mission for East Midland Motor Services, Ltd., to operate from the L,M,S. railway station, Sheffield, to the North station, Blackpool.

North-Western.

A GREAT deal of business is scheduled for hearing at the NorthWestern Traffic Commissioners' sitting at -Manchester, from October 25-28, when more than 50 per cent. of the applications will meet with opposition—in some cases from several undertakings. Express services and excursions will chiefly be concerned, and several popular long-distance routes will be reviewed. Much of the opposition will be from the L.M.S.R. and L.N.E.R., and the NorthWestern Road Car Co., Ltd.

East Midland.

MOST of the applicants at the East —.Midland Traffic Commissioners' sitting at Nottingham, on October 25 (and, if necessary, on the following day), will be small operators, although

Mansfield and District Tramways, Ltd., and the Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd., will be representative of the large concerns. Stage-carriage services will chiefly be concerned at this particular sitting.

Eastern.

THE Eastern Traffic Commissioners'

sitting at Cambridge, from October 26-28, will be held, on the first day, at the Shire Hall, and, on the subsequent days, at the New Shire Hall. On the second day, several applications for the variation of licence conditions will be made. Some popular services from London, eastwards, will be reviewed by the Commissioners, including those of Edward Hillman's Saloon Coaches, Ltd. Southern.

STAGE-OARRIAGE services will be the chief consideration when the Southern Traffic Commissioners sit at Poole, on October 25-26. A large proportion of the applications will be made by Bournemouth Corporation and Hants and Dorset Motor Services, Ltd. Gazette 76 lists only a small amount of opposition.

South-Eastern.

SEVERAL municipal authorities, as well as some prominent operating companies, will object to applications at the South-Eastern Traffic Commissioners' sitting at Brighton, from October 25-28. Express-carriage services and excursions will absorb much time.

Metropolitan.

A SHORT sitting will be held by the

Metropolitan Traffic Commissioner in London, on October 26, and Gazette 82 lists no opposition, although objections may be received later.
