Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A TELESCOPIC trailer for demountable bodies — extending an 18m lorry to 24m in five minutes — has been developed by Kockum Lagab in Sweden, writes SOREN BERGFELDT.

For overseas operators going to countries with 24m maximum length, the new trailer increases their vehicles' potential. For example, lorries with two demountable bodies each can be reloaded on to two lorries, with one body on the prime mover and two other bodies on the telescopic trailer.

While these two lorries continue to their destination, the third can return home or be used for other runs.

The trailer has a closed length of 7.8m overall, which gives room for one 6.6m body, and drawn out, the total length is 11.9m with room for two bodies with a little overhang. In that position, the trailer has a telescopic protection if run into from the back.

The trailer has two frames in a box profile. They are locked in shut-up/drawn-out position by two pneumatically manoeuvred latch-bolts. Dernounting and mounting of the bodies is done by means of support leg bellows operated from a panel at the trailer.

Maximum load is about 22 tonnes including the bodies. The trailer's own weight is eight tonnes. It is delivered with spare wheel, separate road measurer, two circuit immediate brakes, and full electric equipment.
