AUTOMATIC body-mounting from ground on to vehicle chassis without the need for the driver to leave his cab is the big advantage claimed for the MuItilift ML-I4 chassismounted Chainlift system. The system, which also doubles as a tipping frame for normal tipping operation, is designed more particularly for 24-ton six-wheelers. It is complementary to existing Multi& systems and can lift body plus payload capacities of up to 142, tonnes (14 tons). Suitable body lengths range from 4.5m (14.8ft) to 7m (23ft).
Any chassis fitted with ML-14 can be used to shift bodies on to trailers or a loading bank.
The equipment, which weighs 1,900kg (37cwt) installed, consists of a single box-section tipping member with a continuous belt chain running within it. A second chain, the tail-chain, is connected to the endless chain and hangs over the rear of the vehicle just before hitching.
The frame is tilted and the vehicle reversed up to the body with the tail-chain out. The tail-chain automatically locates on the body hitch, the body is ,drawn up the frame by the hydraulically powered endless chain and then the frame is lowered, the body being secured pneumatically in the running position. The reverse applies for unloading.
