A Elm truck servicing and distribution 'centre for MercedesBenz vehicles Is to be built at Coatbridge in mid-Scotland by Tate and Lyle Transport Ltd. It should be operational by the middle of next year.

The centre Will be close to the junction of the M8 and M74 and adjacent to the Container base. Announcing the development on :the opening day Of the Scottish Show, Mr Colin Lyle, a director of Tate and Lyle, said that the new centre would be the first of its kind in Scotland.

It will be operated by Transport Engineering Services, who are Mercedes-Benz dealers for south-west Scotland. The :four acre site will have servicing and spare parts facilities, a diagnostic inspection section and will have waiting and canteen facilities for visiting drivers.

There will 'be 'showers and a canteen for fitters and staff. The centre is expected to employ 'about 100 people.
