• The transport depot of John McKay Ltd., Western Road, Montrose, Angus. employing nine drivers and three maintenance men, in addition to office staff and a manager, is to close next March.
Depot manager Mr. Brian McKay, 21, said the owning firm, Christian Salvesen and Co. Ltd., Leith, which took over John McKay last June, announced the news at a meeting of depot managers.
After the Montrose depot closes, the lorries and staff will move to Blairgowrie, Perthshire, to share premises occupied by another Salvesen firm.
McKay has been transporting meat from the town for about 15 years. The chief destination for the trucks has been the London meat markets.
Mr. John McKay. who started the firm with one lorry transporting livestock, still acts as managing director from his office in London.
