The Ministry of Labour announces thlt it has now been laid down that (1) a ma,n whose duties are canvassing for orders and/or selling goods and who drives a vehicle in the course of these duties should be classified as a salesman, which occupation is not reserved; (2) a Man whose normal duties are the delivery -of goods, but who is authorized to accept further orders from customers as distinct from canvassing for such orders, should be classified as a vehicle driver and treated accordingly for reservation purposes., Roundsmen may fall into either of the above categories. For example, those engaged in the retail distribution of bread, milk, aeanted water, etc., and who are drivers of vehicles, are regarded only is salesmen if they canvass for orders and/or sell goods,• whereas wholesale bread and grocery roundsmen, whose primary duty is the delivery of goods ordered, but who are authorized to accept further orders from customers, are classified as drivers. •• This decision does not affect the position of a coal carter or coal carman, whose position is specified in the Schedule and who is reserved at the age of 25. if driving a vehicle over 2tons unladen, or at 30 for a motor of 11-2i tons unladen or a horse-drawn vehicle.
