Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Mr. J. C. Moth's New Concern, which will Operate a Fleet of 10-ton Scammell Vans in Express Service between London and the Provinces.

AVERY interesting development of the activities of Mr. J. Coventort Moth has recently taken place. He has been associated with various mechanical, transport interests since 1909, and is well known in connection with the Commercial Car Hirers, Ltd., and the Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd., of Loth of which he is a director. Latterly-, too, he has been connected with the Cambrian Coaching and Goods Transport, Ltd., which concern runs the Cambrian group of motor coaches.

Commercial Car Hirers, Ltd., have now ceased to operate as a transport company, and function entirely as a share-holding concern in various groups of omnibuses and other transport companies. The depot and office premises of this company at 112a, Junction Road, Upper Holloway, London, N., have been taken over by a new company formed by Mr. Moth and entitled Coventon's, Ltd., Mr. Moth being associated on the directorate with another gentleman well versed in all transport matters.

Coventon's, Ltd., have been formed for the ptirpose of operating a heavy freight and haulage contracting • business, specializing in ten-tots loads, and also in certain classes of goods between London and the near provincial centres, a regular service being From the first announcement of the proposal to, make a six-wheeled ten-ton vehicle, Mr. Muth was convinced that the development was fraught with great possibilities, and, being approached by certain interests which proposed to operate a transport scheme on a fairly large scale, he agreed to sever his connection with the Cambrian Coaching and Goods Transport, Ltd., for the purpose of forming the new company which, as will be seen, bears in its title his middle name. The vehicles which constitute the fleet are six-wheeled 10-ton Scammell tractor lorries, equipped with insulated boxvans which are fitted with interior lighting, and have one or two special loading devices.

A number of experimental runs and services have already been carried out, and these have conclusively proved that a. 10-ton load can be carried on a much more economical basis than four or five

ton loads or larger loads spread over a vehicle and trailer.

These 10-ton vans will be used mainly on long journeys, and every consideration, therefore; has been paid to the question of the comfort of the driver. The cab is enclosed by high sides and doors, and is fitted with an ample protecting hood and •a windshield guard. Two powerful headlights, as well as side lamps are employed. The colour scheme that has been adopted for the vehicles is

a café-au-lait background with red letters .shaded with black.

It is the intention that Coventon's Ltd., shall work in conjunction with large freight interests which will possess established depots in every city or large provincial town for the purpose of dealing with local freight or loads for transhipment to London and elsewhere, and by the handling of large loads on every journey to effect the greatest pos sihle economy in the handling and transhipinent of-goods. The need for ample clearing-house facilities throughout the country is thus being complied with. Mr. Moth retains his directorship of Commercial Car Hirers, Ltd., and the Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd., a.nd, as an admitted authority upon door-to-door deliveries, effected expeditiously and economically. may confidently be expected to make an outstanding success of the new venture.
