According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, only 10,348 trucks were registered in the UK over the four months compared with 11,562 for 1991.
Commercial vehicles, including buses, coaches and vans, fared even worse with registrations falling over the four months to April this year by 11.52% from Jan-April 1991.
