Ii hebiennial International Road
Transport Union (IRU) conference in Barcelona awarded its Grand Prix d'Honneur to a Hungarian driver for an act of courage following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.
At the beginning of August 1990 Andras Juhasz arrived in Kuwait City to deliver a cargo of meat. He was arrested at customs and imprisoned for eight days in "difficult conditions" by Iraqi forces, before being released to the Hungarian ambassador in Baghdad.
