• Heavy haulier ill Rawcliffe & Sons of Maudsley, Lancs has taken delivery of the first modular Nicolas trailer in the UK.
The 40-tonne 3,02m-long dynamic goose-neck, with sectional beam deck and eight pendular axles, steering hydraulically through up to 55', can be used in a variety of forms.
Its 2 . 7 in wide, three and five-axle modules couple to give a single 14.78m deck length capable of carrying 140 tonnes.
Using the beam decks between them extends its length up to 34.22m but with a reduced loading depending on whether the neck is used.
Individual modules can also be coupled side-by-side into 5.4mwide platforms. Axle module height is set at 1,100mm, plus 400 or minus 320mm,
