• MAN Truck and Bus UK, the new wholly owned subsidiary of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge of Munich, aims to double its share of the UK truck market over the next five years.
Dr Gunther Dietz, executive vice-president of sales and marketing for MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG, accepts that is it "a tall order", but says: "I'm fully aware of the measure of our confidence in the vehicles, people in Swindon and our dealer network."
Dietz says that in addition to increasing market share, MAN Truck and Bus UK also expects "a substantial rise in volume"; the company is expected to invest more money in its UK dealer network.
Following a 24% increase in profits during 1990/91 MAN is expecting another "excellent result" in its operating profits, says Dietz.
