A SAVING of £0.25m has resulted from the first year of Lincolnshire County Council's centralised transport organisation, county transport manager Colin Raynor told CMthis week.

All commercial vehicles and plant used by the council's departments have been transferred to a transport management organisation which also runs workshops and provides a full contract hire back-up.

Already, around five per cent of the fleet of 900 has been found to be surplus to needs and one of three workshops has been closed.
