Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

By Norman H. Tfisley

THE formation of tipper groups in 1 various parts of the country is gathering momentum. While the Mendip tipper operators have succeeded in bringing quarry owners to the conference table (sec story above) a satisfactory scheme of charging has yet to be agreed.

Meanwhile, a tipper group has been formed in York, where the work is predominently of an agricultural nature with a certain amount of quarry work as welt. Fifty tipper hauliers have formed a group under the temporary chairmanship of Mr. Percy Atkinson, of P. Atkinson and Son Ltd., York, with Mr. J. H. Tait, Snr., of Taits Transport, York, acting as secretary. This decision came as the result of meetings with representatives of the successful Tees-side Tipper Group. That Group's chairman, Mr. Frank Brown, and three of his colleagues explained consolidation of vehicles.

According to evidence gathered at the last meeting. it was agreed that tipping rates were about 15 per cent below the economic minimum, Another meeting is to be held on June and tipper hauliers in the Leeds and West Riding area (both RHA members and non-members) intend to form a group which could meet the principal users of tippers to inaugurate a rates committee.

If the setting-up of these groups is achieved, groups from as far apart as Fife, and Yorkshire will be linked—there already being a liaison between the Scots and Northern tipper men.
