Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Van racking systems cost anything from a few hundred to several thousand pounds. The price depends on what equip ment you want and whether the system needs to be bespoke. or whether one of the various trade kits now available is right for your needs. There is another advantage with kits: lead times on fitting have been slashed from weeks to just a few days. Over the past couple of years all the racking companies have developed modular systems that are quicker to fit and cheaper but retain the flexibility of made-to-measure units.

Sortimo International has introduced Fastrack 48, a two-day service available through van dealers. With Bri-Stor's Pronto scheme fleet operators can have vans delivered directly to the company's Mixon, Staffs base to save time.

Sortimo has eliminated the need to drill the vehicle floor instead, all its systems attach to a self-supporting base unit that fits over the original van floor.

Bri-Star reckons the extra cost of van racking can easily be recouped from the average 15 minutes a day the tradesman saves—especially with Its latest sliding racking kit called Tradesman. which sells for £350. "He can go straight to the part or tool required rather than having to ferret about in a heap of stuff on the van's floor" says sales director Bob King. "Assuming a charge-out rate of £25 per hour. the time gains add up to £5,000 during a four-year van life.'' New from H-Model is a combined storage locker, mobile tool box and shelving system. The removable Mobil-Box can be opened when it is still on the shelf for access to equipment when working from the vehicle or it can be carried to the job site so all hand tools and equipment are easily to hand. There are two sizes: 80 and 150mm high. The pull-out ball-bearing-mounted shelves are secured so they will not slide out during transport: they are released at the press of a button. Batt is another major racking supplier with a range of systems on offer.

Vanstyle is a new name for an established business, Autopia Vanquip. Autopia has been acquired by Players United, an investment group that also owns West Bromwich bodybuilder Bloxwich Engineering. The aim is to build up the business using company-employed mobile fitting staff who offer a quick-response service.
