LONDON TRANSPORT is being pressed to revive the closed shops which were the rule before the 1971 Industrial Relations Act, Both the TGWU and the NUR are backing this request.
A union spokesman said: "A closed shop would give greater authority to elected representatives and would be of great assistance in improving industrial relations.
London Transport is at present considering a reply.
