• Production of commercial vehicles (including buses and coaches) in the UK during 1968 totalled 409,186, announces the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. Ford headed the list with 108,017, followed by BMC 105,195; Vauxhall 97,222; Rover 36,694; Rootes 27,066; Leyland 23,854; Daimler and Guy 2,621; Atkinson 1,196; Bristol 766; and others 6,555.
