• Raymond Ferris, who trades as Ferris Coach Holidays, of Senghenydd, has had his 18-vehicle PSV licence revoked, and has been disqualified from holding a licence for five years, following convictions for aiding and abetting drivers to fiddle tachograph charts.

However, South Wales Deputy Traffic Commissioner Lyndon Davies has directed that the orders do not come into force until midnight on 29 June, by which time an application for a new licence by Ferris' wife, Katherine, will have been dealt with at a public inquiry.

In March, Ferris was jailed

for nine months, and ordered to pay 25,000 costs, after pleading guilty at Bristol Crown Court to 10 offences of aiding and abetting (CM 23-28 March). His appeal against the sentence was subseqently rejected by the Court of Appeal (CM 10-16 May).

Ferris was allowed out of prison to attend the disciplinary proceedings before the Deputy Traffic Commissioner. He claimed that he had only pleaded guilty to the offences at Bristol Crown Court after being told that the costs would be £100,000 if he was found guilty on a technicality. He said that he did not plan to be a PSV operator on his release. However, his wife and son intended to run the business.
