• Sally Line has almost doubled its freight business with the acquisition of French ROR0 freight ferry operator SAN Charles Schiaffino last week.
From July Schiaffino's Ramsgate-Ostend service will run alongside Sally Line's Ramsgate-Dunkerque route. And in a few months it is likely the two routes will be operated under a Sally/Schiaffino banner.
Sally Line says the takeover will lead to an 80% increase of its freight business — to 155,000 units a year. The two acquired vessels can each carry 70 freight units and 12 trucks.
