• Heronfreight, the distribu non division of Heron Corporation, has won a contract to distribute and store British Alcan consumer products south of King's Lynn and Aberystwyth.
The contract, worth probably over .500,000 to Heronfreight, was gained from Lowfield Distribution. It marks Heronfreight's expansion into High Street distribution.
Heronfreight has recently announced a contract to distribute Zanussi products to the Comet warehouse chain.
With Lowfield, stocks of British Alcan consumer products were held at three points across the south and west of England.
Heronfreight's scheme involves two stockholding points at Heronfreight's depots at VVarboys, Cambridgeshire and Westbury in Wiltshire.
At these depots orders are picked and trunked to Heronfreight satellite depots at West Thurrock, near the M25 and Rownhams near the M27 at Southampton, for distribution.
