Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DIESEL PREFERRED

• Vehicle leaser Trimoco is close to achieving its objective of standardising on diesel power for its entire self-drive rental fleet of vans and trucks, ranging from Ford Escorts to maximum weight Daf and Scania tractive units.

Reason for the change, according to Trimoco truck and van rental manager Keith Lonsdale, is the economy and performance of the latest generation of lightweight diesels. The company believes there is now little to choose from in terms of performance between today's diesel and petrol engines. On economy, Lansdale says: "We're finding that the new diesel-engined one-tonne Transit vans are around 30% more fuel efficient than the old petrol model."

Diesel-engined vehicles are now available from Trimoco's main Skimpot Road, Dunstable, depot (0582 505222). Models available include Ford Escort 355kg vans; Ford Transit one-tonne pick-ups and panel vans; Transit 1.5-tonne panel vans, dropsides, tippers and boxvans with or without tail-lifts.

The medium and heavy commercial vehicle fleet continues as before, comprising a mix of Ford Cargos, Mercedes-Benz, Bedfords, Dafs and Scanias.

MOROCCO BOUND

• Whittle freight Management Services of Preston, Lanes (0772 797817) has appointed Marbar SA of Casablanca as sole Moroccan agent.

Marbar formerly shared the Whittle agency in Morocco with Transimex Tangier. Under the new arrangement, however, Transimex will act as the sub-agent to Marbar in 'Dingier in respect of all Whittle trailers running to and from Morocco.
