• Two new driver service areas just off England's motorways open this month.

Tebay (M6) Junction 38 opened on Wednesday and its operator, Westmorland, says that it has been custom built for the commercial vehicle driver.

It is sited on the Tebay roundabout, just off Junction 38 of the M6, and serves southbound traffic only.

Granada is also opening its trunk road Newbury services on June 27, The services are located on the A34 near Chievley, off the M4.

Newbury has separate dining facilities for lorry drivers and takes all UK diesel agency cards. It has showers, and the overnight parking fee is £5 in

eluding a £1.50 meal voucher. II The Freight Transport Association has just published a 21 guide to lorry drivers' facilities. It is available from FTA offices.

It covers all known facilities for lorry drivers on primary routes. Where possible, information is included on parking charges and the availability of food, phones, toilets and accommodation.

The information is listed under county headings in England and Wales, regional headings in Scotland and by route number. A motorway map is included with information on service areas.
