• Transterrain, the Cambridge-based importer of Portuguese UMM light 4x4 has extended its range with new, more powerful Alter models.

The Alter comes in hardt and one-tonne pick-up commercial versions, as well as soft-top roadster and statior wagon. Al] models are fitted with a 57kW(76hp) Peugeot 2.5-litre diesel engine, whicl compares to the 50kW(67hr 2.3-litre Peugeot diesel currently offered in the UMM Transcat utility model.

Most significant improvements in the Alter include a revised four-speed gearbox with a new chain-drive twospeed transfer case. The Alter also has an updated in tenor with high-back seats carpeting on all versions.

Exterior styling is more c like with a flush-fitted grille with rectangular headlights body side-mouldings leading into the all-new rear-end equipped with a single tailga and tow bar.

Prices for the UMM Alte are from £7,495 to £7,795 VAT. Transterrain says it vl continue to bring in the oldc Transcat models into the Ul alongside the Alter, althougl not all of its existing 65 UK dealers will handle the latesi 4 x4 model.
