FODENS have announced substantial further sales of their medium mobility vehicles for the Ministry of Defence and also a new order for low mobility vehicles from the Royal Air Force. In total these orders are worth in the region of E5m.
The MoD is taking seven of the Foden 6x6 GS recovery vehicles equipped with EKA top hamper and a Fairey ten-ton front winch.
Additionally, Fodens are to supply four 6x6 ballasted trailer units fitted with Reynolds Boughton bodies and winches with a capacity of 22.7 tonnes.
Fodens major success, though, is to win an order with the RAF for the first time — for 38 low mobility 8x4 chassis fitted with 22,500 lit (5000gal) Thompson aluminium aviation fuel tanks. Fodens are expecting further orders from the Ministry of Defence and have 6x6 gun tractors on trial with the Indian, Malaysian and Australian governments.
