AAs the driver would only be employed

part-time in this case, it is advisable to calculate any charges by dealing with standing costs and running costs separately rather than as a combined operating cost. As shown in the present edition of the CM Tables the standing cost per week for a 14-seater coach fitted with diesel engine is £21 18s 9d of which £16 3s 3c1 is reckoned as the driver's basic wage. For this latter amount there would have to be substituted the part-time payment actually made in any particular week.

The other four items of standing costs are: Licences 8s 9d, rent and rates 33s 6d. insurance 27s and interest 46s 3d.

Total running costs per mile at 200 miles a week li.e. 10.000 miles a year) are estimated to be 9.03d made up as follows; Fuel 2.21d, lubricants 0.23d, tyres 0.35d, maintenance 3.13d and depreciation 3.11d.
