Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

chase or property in conjunction with other London area fleet users to provide a co-operative maintenance scheme and possibly an operational base so as to ensure that vehicles comply with the more stringent regulations now being enforced. Do you think this would be a viable proposition?

ATo ensure that a fully equipped and

manned maintenance depot is operated economically normally requires a larger number of vehicles than is commonly found in many commercial vehicle fleets. The new regulations make this doubly so as regular inspections will cause a greater need for testing equipment.

Therefore, at least, in theory, the proposition is a good one. But the financial arrangements would have to be demonstrably fair to all parties and likewise the order of priority of work. Because of the close relation of driving standards and maintenance costs, there might also have to be some overall control of selection of drivers.

There should, however, be savings not only in bulk purchases but in a greater facility to ensure that skilled men are mainly if not wholly employed on skilled work which, though obviously desirable, is virtually impossible to arrange in small fleets.

Should there be any inquiries from interested parties we will forward them on.
