Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

If you had about thirty-five million pounds to invest where would you place it? It may sound an enviable position to be in, but perhaps the fact that I have spelt it out (because £35m doesn't somehow look so much) will convey the magnitude of the decision. Anyway, this is the financial problem which faces the BET directors now that their UK bus interests have been sold to THC. And with the present chancy state of the economy he would be a bold man who could confidently pick the right shares to buy or the best field in which to launch a new business.

It would not surprise me, in the circumstances, to find BET putting at least part of the money into a field in which they already have interests—transport abroad. A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the vast ramifications of United Transport Overseas (in which BET is already a substantial partner) and the great growth of traffic in Africa in particular. What better place for the investment than emergent countries where there is promise of growth and the years of transport expertise can be brought to bear?
