Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Improved Hinges (Warwick) Ltd., Stratford Road, Warwick, has obtained an option on the manufacturing rights in this country of a telescopic tilt produced by a German company. An imported telescopic frame is fitted with a nylon p.v.c.-coated cover produced by the Coventry Hood and Sidescreen Co. Ltd., Hosiery Street, Bedworth and has been installed for demonstration purposes on a Ford D800 drop-sided platform lorry. In the case of the Ford application the body has a length of I 8ft 6in. The retail price of the tilt if it is manufactured by Improved Hinges, would be about £200.

The telescopic mechanism is of the scissors type and operates in such a way that the cover cannot be nipped between sections of the gear when it is being folded into the closed position at the front of the body. In this position (where it is lockable) the tilt occupies a length of about 2ft 6in. Weight of the structure, complete with cover, is about 4cwt.

Built to TIR standards, the tilt is supplied with a plastics-covered cable for lacing. It is opened and closed manually and the operadon occupies one man about 6min. Lacing-up adds about 4min. to the operation. The cover is proof against ultra-violet light and extremes of temperature. It is available in a wide variety of colours and will readily accept sign writing. The central transverse tie member can be removed to facilitate loading from above.

If the tilt is manufactured in this country, it will be available in any length up to that required for the largest vehicles. In a typical case a standard drop-sided platform vehicle can be converted in little more than one hour.
