Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Scottish Traffic Commissioners last week granted an application by Highland Omnibuses Ltd. for a new Forres-Newtonmore service after adjustments had been made to meet objections lodged by Grantown Town Council and Moray County Council.

The county council withdrew its objections after an offer had been made to provide an experimental Friday evening service extending to Grantown and connecting with the Inverness-London sleeper train at Aviemore.

Mr. A. L Wells, the chairman, said this experiment on Fridays would be for a period of two months from the date of inception, and the Commissioners would expect the company to keep a census showing the number of people travelling on the journeys.

The Commissioners would then review the matter, and if in their view there was not a reasonable number of the public taking advantage of this service they would authorize the company to withdraw it— without further application being made.

Mr. Wells thought the offer of an experimental service on one night a week was a generous one.
