A. Craig MacDonald, formerly director and general manager of Albion Motors Ltd.. has been appointed chairman. Mr. MacDonald's duties will include overall responsibility for the British Motor Corporation commercial vehicle plant at Bathgate, near Edinburgh, as well as for Albion Motors. Mr. MacDonald, who was appointed Albion general manager in 1961, became Scottish chairman of the Confederation of British Industries in 1967. R. J. D. S. Deacon has been appointed a director of the Aldershot and District Traction Co. Ltd. in place of W. M. Dravers who has resigned. Other BET Federation appointments: D. S. Deacon, a director of the City of Oxford Motor Services Ltd., J. H. Richardson having resigned; J. Niblock, a director of East Midland Motor Services Ltd., J. H. Richardson having resigned; J. Niblock and W. HarrisBurland, directors of the Trent Motor Traction Co. Ltd. in place of S. J. B. Skyrme and G. A. V. Hayes respectively who have resigned.

R. A. Taylor, a director of Eddison Plant Ltd., has been elected chairman in succession to S. J. B. Skyrme. Mr. Skyrme, who was appointed to the board in May 1966 and has been chairman since April 1967, remains a director.

Sir Richard Yeabsley, on reaching 70, is relinquishing the chairmanship and retiring from the Board of Brown Brothers and its subsidiaries on June 30. He will be succeeded as chairman by the deputy chairman, J. T. Mesterton, who will continue as managing director. A. M. Mackintosh becomes deputy chairman.

E. N. Wilkinson, a director of Ondura Ltd., has been appointed president of the Retread Manufacturers Association and chairman of its council. Mr. Wilkinson succeeds A. D. Davidson, managing director of Tyresoles Ltd., who has completed his two years in office.

S. J. Barnes, chairman of Clayton Dewandre Holdings Ltd., parent of the Lincoln power braking manufacturers, has sailed for a five-week visit to the Group's South African subsidiary in Johannesburg.

George Cattell, Rootes Motors director of manufacturing, has been appointed to head the productivity team which Mrs. Barbara Castle is establishing at the Department of Employment and Productivity. He will be on indefinite secondment from Rootes. H. F. Gray, formerly general manager of Bee and Jay (Parcels) Ltd., Leeds, has taken up a similar post with Lund of Otley. road hauliers.

OBITUARY

We record with regret the death of A. E. Masters. the managing director of Petters Ltd. from 1960 until May last year. He was 65.
