• A new BRS parcels depot for Hull and district at 240, Leads Road, Hull, was opened on Monday. It replaces the former depot at Reform Street, now too small for the increasing business dealt with in the area by BRS Parcels Ltd.
The fully enclosed transit shed has a 26Ift loading platform, of which a portion 108ft long by 30ft wide will be used for outward trunk services, leaving a portion 153ft by 55ft for inward traffic.
Within the transit shed—and running continuous with the platform—a 5,000 sq.ft. warehouse has been so constructed as to allow the loading platform to be extended through it for 63ft.
An automatic greasing installation has been provided at the service station, which has three standings—two with pits— facilities for cleaning and electrical work and accommodation for stores and spare parts.
Other facilities on the site include a parking area for trailers, and a fuelling point with air, water and anti-freeze supply points.
The Hull branch of BRS Parcels operates 32 powered vehicles and 30 trailers, its local collection and delivery area extending to Bridlington in the north, Market Weighton in the west and Withernsea in the east.
