Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Cash grants for management and supervisory training are to be doubled and grants for craft and apprentice training are to be increased by 10s a day, the Road Transport Industry Training Board announced on Tuesday. New capital grants are also offered to employers who wish to improve training facilities.

The new grants will be available for the current grant period from January 1 to July 31 1968.

Management training—which includes directors, managers, executives, supervisors and foremen—has previously attracted grants of up to £6 a day for trainees over 21 and 30s. for younger trainees, as well as possible travel and subsistence allowances of up to [15 a week. The new grant figures become £12 and £3 a day respectively, while on

the-job training will now attract daily grants of £3 or £6 a day, according to age. Day-school or off-the-job apprentice instruction will qualify for £2 a day, as against 30s.

The Board may now contribute up to half of the cost of training equipment to firms improving existing facilities.

• On Wednesday a further 6+ miles of the London-Yorkshire Motorway (M1l was opened, the section being that between the present terminal point and A61 interchange at Tankersley, Yorks. The new stretch includes the two-level Tinsley Viaduct.
