• A Midland haulage company is to be prosecuted after allegedly dumping asbestos on an illegal site in Worcestershire.
P J Murray Haulage of Wythall, near Birmingham, is to be taken to court by Hereford and Worcester County Council for allegedly dumping 20,000 tonnes of contaminated waste on an unlicensed site near Redditch without gaining planning permission.
The firm removed the waste, containing potentially hazardous brown and white asbestos cement sheet, from the site of a new supermarket in Abbey Vale, Redditch, for R M Douglas, a Birmingham construction firm.
R M Douglas has since dismissed P J Murray Haulage and replaced it with another sub-contractor to continue the site clearance.
